We are a non-profit organization supporting music excellence in Prince Edward Island.  The festival has been in operation since 1946 and is run by many volunteers. Professional Musicians are hired to adjudicate the performances of our many festival participants.  This is a learning experience for the participants and encourages them to set and reach goals in their study of music.  Each performance is appreciated by the audience, festival volunteers and the adjudicators.

"The history of the PEI Music Festival Association is a fascinating account of one important element of PEI’s cultural development. The story is not of the PEIMFA, itself, but of many things – the one and two room school houses, the development of arts education and cultural activity in the province, the significant role of the Women’s Institutes on PEI, and the many people of PEI who gave so much of themselves for the benefit of Island youth." (Andrea Ledwell; A Brief History of the PEI Music Festival Association (PEIMFA) 1946-1995)    We continue to strive to reach the goals set by our founders in 1946. To learn more, please read our History Page.
